No-one can put a price on the Friends of Arid Recovery's invaluable contribution towards the Arid RecoveryProject since its inception. 'Friends' was established in 1998 and through their donations and hours of volunteer work, they have continued to be a major contributor to Arid Recovery, and instrumental in its development and achievements.
Friends have assisted with tasks as extensive as constructing the perimeter fence to as humble as folding mail-outs, but each task has contributed greatly to the overall success and on-going work of Arid Recovery.
Over 320 households across Australia and overseas, together with members of the general public, university and school students, local pastoralists, 4WD Clubs and other community groups, conservation organisations and businesses have contributed to, and been part of the Project as a 'Friend' and this number continues to grow.
Becoming a Friend and playing a role in protecting and restoring Australia's endangered species is as simple as subscribing via an annual donation, and you can choose to volunteer for one of the many actities undertaken by Friends. There is sure to be a task you can assist with, whether you live locally or not, and the work is rewarding for both individuals and for Arid Recovery.
Arid Recovery has recently developed a range of donation options for Friends that would like to contribute more towards a specific project or cause within Arid Recovery so that you can follow the progress and share the outcomes.
There are options too, to encourage your friends and family to get involved, such a through our 'Adoptions Program' , where you can send them a 'Certificate of Adoption' for a 'Little Aussie Digger', one of the threatened small animal species at the Reserve as a gift for perhaps Christmas, Easter or a birthday, and the contribution goes directly to conservation of endangered species.
Run a fundraiser
Arid Recovery has great opportunities for community and schools groups, or perhaps office teams, to run fundraisers and contribute the funds towards a particular cause or project at the Reserve. We can also arrange for a member of the Arid Recovery Team to visit your school or work/community group with a presentation to assist with your fundraiser. (including the use of our magnificent Bilby costume)
Please contact the Community Education Officer to discuss.
