| A month of preparation, a staff working bee, a camera crew and an influx of volunteers have marked the beginning of the 2012 Annual Trapping event at Arid Recovery.
This year volunteers have come from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide to assist with the annual event monitoring the small mammal and reptile populations in and around the Arid Recovery Reserve. |

"We had a busy, and hot, day in the field on Friday getting everything all of the trapping sites ready ready for Monday" says Hannah Spronk, Arid Recovery's Volunteer and Community Officer.
With 120 pitfall traps and 300 ellitt traps the annual trapping event is the biggest event on the AR calendar, with all hands on deck to get traps set and to collect and process all the animals.
Volunteers arrived in Roxby Downs on Sunday afternoon and were trated to a BQ at the AR Reserve and chance to meet some of the curious bettongs before heading off to bed for an early night.
The crew are all out in the field each morning and evening to check the pitfall lines and set the traps.
